Old Sam

In fifty years I see myself still being one of the living. I hope to be happily married, however, if I am anything like my parents, I may not actually be happy. Just married. But, again... HOPEFULLY.. I'll be married. Have a few kids, still be healthy and have a semi okay figure, as well as a job I dont completely hate. Maybe I'll be an art teacher, if they get paid better.
I hope I dont look like my grandmother, she had 4 or 5 chins. ANd I dont want to look like my mom. I think Ill choose a different path.. :]

I think Ill have wrinkley, used hands, since I plan to continue being an artist up until im 50 or 60.
I tried uploading what my face would look like, but it said I needed to download java and I cant because it will mess with my computer. So I improvised...Hope thats ok.
<--So here is a picture of what I may look like... (although my dad seems to think this is just me on drugs)
Gray hair, saggy jowls. This will be me when I am 80, but Ill have nice shades of gray hair.

COLOR

To me, color is one of the most important things visually in our world. Without color life would be a dull and boring. Colors consist of primary, (red, blue, yellow) secondary (purple, green, orange) and tertiary colors (spelled wrong im sure) which is the mixing of colors in between the other groups. White is the absense of color, and black is all colors at once. (although black and white arent considered true colors) A tint is when you add white to a color, a shade is adding black and a hue is the distance a color is from white. You can mix any color theoretically, but adding complimentary colors gets a certain tone. Complimentary colors are green and red, blue and orange and purple and yellow. I feel I know a lot about color, because I love to paint and I love using color and mixing and layering. Also, in my highschool art classes, color sense was very important, which seems to be a benefit to me.

My favorite color is purple, any variant, but leaning more towards a plum. I really like this color because I find I lean towards this color when buying clothing, and it looks good with my skin. Not trying to be cocky. But thats my reasoning. Normally I didnt have a favorite color, only recently when my boyfriend wanted to buy me something did i throw it out there that purple was my favorite. The only exception is barney purple, which is obnoxious!

:]
This last question I am kind of confused on how to answer, but I really thought the food project and the way it was curated was interesting. Even though noone came to see the gallery, and it felt pushed back and the other teacher guy made our art seem inferior, i though the concept was fun, and I am glad my group won! I had already done a project on synesthesia my junior year in school, I wish I had that disorder. Sooooo cool. Maybe I could train my brain to do it. HA
The way an artist curates his show relates to his art pieces and how they are in relation to one another, I think. I cant remember the womans name, but she did the lard, soap and chocolate, and the way she curated her art was especially important, in fact it made up most of the show itself, having the knawed at block in one area and the remains, or boxes of chocolate and face care in another shop like area. I think all artists curate differently depending on their style.

A Kiss To Send Us Off

On November 11th, Tommy received news that he would be departing for Iraq the following week. Unfortunately, that gave him little time to say goodbye to his girlfriend, Sara, of four years.

Sara: "I don’t understand why you have to leave so soon. You said it wasn’t until next year, we made plans, and we were going to be together for Thanksgiving. "

Tommy:" I’m sorry. You know I don’t have a say in when I go, and if they need me then it’s my job to be there."

S: "There are others, why you?"

T: "Don’t say that, especially not today. So many men and women have fought to protect our country, today of all days you should know that. I’m fighting for those who have already and cant any more. I’m fighting to keep my home safe."

Tommy and Sara spend the rest of the week together, before Tommy is to be sent away. On their last day together they share one final kiss, and both of them wonder when they will ever see each other again.

ENC 1101 Blog

I hope that something gets done with our economical crisis soon. I was just laid off from my job due to a budget cut. Which really sucks.

On a lighter note though.. Halloween is fast approaching, as are some amazing concerts and events. Like guavaween? (or how ever its spelt)

My boyfriend tells me that I wont enjoy this particular event ..but who wouldnt enjoy seeing middle age men and women make a fool of themselve drunk, while listening to horrible alternative rock. On second thought, maybe I'll just count down the days till Twilight the Movie comes out and butchers everyones mental image of Edward. *sigh*

Thats what I was going to originally blog about. There are hundreds of obsessed people on Twilight fan spaces who spend hours..no..DAYS bickering back and forth about the cast of this new movie. But I decided against that because I really dont care. Books are always waaay better then movies. So there is no reason to get your hopes up.

I just took my mid-term today. That was pretty exciting. One down.. one to go.

I'll write more later!

if.i.were.a.food.

If I were a food I would be Rice a' Roni

(The Samfransico Treat!)

I love pasta of every kind. But I really like

Rice a' Roni, and I think that IF I were a food

I would be one that can be mixed with anything.

Rice a' Roni is a nice blend of all things good, rice, artifical chicken flavoring,

spicy stuff, and a bunch of unhealthy shit too. It can be in basically anything.. salads, tacos.. by itself.

I think that if I were a food I would taste pretty good, like Rice a' Roni..and

if Rice a' Roni was a person, I think we would have a lot in common and

we would both watch Stephen Colbert. (Rice would have a good sense of humor.)

Assignment Numero Uno

One image that I used as a historical resource is the image pictured to the right. These following works, all which portray a fearful expression, are done by the author/illustrator Stephen Gammel.Middle name- creep.(Except for the last one, which someone posted on my Myspace as a weird joke..) All of these pictures can be found in either Scary Stories to tell in the Dark (1981), Scary Stories to tell in the Dark 2 (1984) or More Scary Stories to tell in the Dark (1999) The majority of his works were done in graphite and charcoals, although some are ink as well. I do believe they are quite possibly the creepiest drawings I have ever seen. I cannot stress this enough. CREEPY. What makes it even worse is that Gammel's profession is author/illustrator of CHILDREN BOOKS. So if you have ever read Wills Mammoth.. yea that's him too!

^--This picture is "the bride" found in More Scary Stories...

^-- This is known as "the girl that stood", also from one of the 3 novels.
^-- this is "the thing"
All the Stephen Gammel Pictures were found first in my Scary stories books, but then imaged searched on Google- I couldn't get my scanner to work :(
^-- this is not done by Gammel, as said above. But it is equally scary. Look at his face!! yeee! It was found on my Myspace (myspace.com), so its before origin is unknown. Looks like Walmart to me tho..
Last Wednesdays class was a lot of fun. Honestly. It was interesting to try and figure out what a hypogognic was even after you tried to explain it. And on top of that.. what the difference was between it and a hallucination. I didn't think there really was one, but apparently..
It was fun trying to get a group idea going, and we all brained stormed and tried to tackle the six different drawings in a timely fashion. It was really fun (again..fun) to see everyones styles and how they went about the topic. I think our group did a really good job. I personally thought that everyone's, not just our teams, ideas were crazy and funny. Everyone had different ways of interpreting the words they were trying to define. I learned that using charcoal to make a quick sketch was a really good idea. And I also learned that, contrary to my history of the visual arts class, it is really difficult to say that something is not art, especially with all the different styles and ways of going about an idea.
